A Family Affair: Serve the community (and really good pizza)

Dimitri's Pizza has been a successful family-run business for 30 years. While his parents and uncles ran the business, Dimitri worked in the financial services industry as a stockbroker, intent on staying away from the family business. He wasn't helping people the way he thought he could and wanted more hands-on experience and interaction. It wasn't long before he realized joining the family business might actually make him happier. He and his siblings Yianni and Theohare took over from the previous generation to continue the institution Dimitri's Pizza has become.

The restaurant is now a long-standing piece of Contoocook's community (that’s in New Hampshire). The business has always given back to the community with initiatives like free Thanksgiving meal delivery to those in need and job opportunities for local kids, but Dimitri and his family aim to make this an even bigger part of their mission in the coming years.

For Dimitri, the biggest challenge to being a business owner is having to be open to and accepting of change. “It's not the easiest thing to do,” he says, “but it's what will help the business most." Dimitri's background in the financial world has made this easier. He, Yianni, and Theohare aim to continue what the business has done well but make upgrades along the way that will help customers, like online ordering. "We invest in improving the business with new technology, equipment, etc, but at the end of the day it's how you treat the customer that keeps them coming back."

Dimitri's been a loyal AP Intego customer for so long because he "knows he doesn’t have to worry about it. I have a million other things to worry about. As a self-employed person, knowing that you guys take care of this and get it done is the best feeling."
